The character dies instantly and you restart the current level from the beginning. Fireboy cannot survive any contact with water, blue pools, or water hazards - he'll dissolve immediately. The game has no health system - it's one touch and you restart.
The original Forest Temple contains 32 levels that progressively increase in difficulty. The first 10 levels teach basic mechanics like movement and element avoidance.
